My name is Desislava Petrova, and I am a Neo-Reichian Analytical Psychotherapist. I completed my specialization at the Bulgarian Institute for Neo-Reichian Analytical Psychotherapy. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Philology and master’s degrees in Psychology and Political Science. I have also completed postgraduate training in Art Therapy. I never stop learning, exploring, developing my knowledge and skills, and experimenting. Currently, I am in my second year of the Professional Training program at the Netherlands Institute of Core Energetics.
Before becoming a therapist, my professional path took me through the media sector, cultural management, and NGOs working on educational projects for children.
For me, therapy is a journey — one in which I accompany another person seeking themselves and their way toward a fulfilling life, but also a personal journey through which I continue to discover myself.
My interests are focused on body-oriented psychotherapy as a path toward integrating body, mind, and emotions. I work with topics such as identity, connection, emotional regulation, trauma, and personal boundaries. I have a particular interest in the dynamics of relationships — difficulties in partnerships, crises, divorce, and separation — as well as themes related to intimacy, attachment, and authentic contact.
I am deeply fascinated by the influence of body awareness on personal growth and on the capacity for closeness — both with oneself and with others. I am also interested in the connection between pleasure and life energy, and in the role of the creative process and art as both expression and resource in therapeutic work.
